Question

What happened to any points that DCU credit card holders had with the old Scorecard rewards program?

I'll admit that I rarely used them, preferring to let them build up for a big purchase. But when I went to check on them several months ago, I noticed that there was now a special card that earned rewards points. It seems like the standard card no longer earns points with purchases.

I checked with DCU and apparently, they discontinued this program in 2010 but the points can be transferred if you hold a DCU Rewards Platinum Visa. You will need to switch your existing card into that card and then transfer the points to that.

DCU switched Visa programs in September 2010 and Visa cards stopped accruing Score Card Points. You had until had until April 30, 2011 to redeem any unused Score Card Points you had accumulated before they were forfeited. The only card offering rewards at this time is our DCU Platinum Rewards card program. If you are interested in enrolling or learning more, please give us a call during business hours.

Most cards are mailed through standard First Class mail, and so cannot be tracked. However, by your request, DCU can send a card through a registered service such as Federal Express. When this is done, you will be provided a tracking number to monitor the card. There is a charge for this service. For details, please contact our Information Center at 800.328.8797 or at dcu@dcu.org

You can transfer a balance to your DCU Visa in several different ways.

1) By logging into PC Branch, you can take a cash advance from your Visa into your checking account. Then, simply contact your credit card company to payoff the balance on your other card. You can write them a check, or use Bill Payer to access these funds.

2) DCU offers Visa checks to our members as well. These are paper checks that are drawn off your Visa line instead of from your checking account. Using a Visa check will pay off another credit card directly while placing the balance on your DCU Visa.

Please be aware that each of these methods does constitute a cash advance from your card. Additional finance charges will apply. For details, or if you have questions, please contact DCU's Information Center at 800.328.8797, or at dcu@dcu.org.

DCU is currently re-evaluating the benefits offered on our Visa credit cards. As such, extended warranties on purchases will not be available on your purchase. This applies to existing Visa Classic cards and DCU Visas opened on February 17th or later. Existing Visa Gold and Platinum cards will continue to offer this benefit. If you are unsure if you qualify for this benefit or not, please feel free to contact our Information Center at 800.328.8797, option 7 or at dcu@dcu.org.

Yes, your DCU Visa and Check Card will work wherever VISA is accepted. However, we sometimes place blocks on particular merchants or locations where we learn fraud is prevalent. We always work closely with VISA to monitor current fraud patterns and add or remove blocks as these patterns change.

If you are traveling abroad and plan on using your DCU Visa or Check Card, please contact us to check if a block is in effect for the country you are visiting.

Please see our Schedule of Fees (.pdf format) for specific information regarding currency conversion fees that you may incur while using your DCU Visa or Check Card outside of the United States.

Finance charges begin to accrue on your average daily credit card balance if you have taken out a cash advance or balance transfer. The finance charges will stop accruing once you pay off your full credit card balance.

Finance charges are also caused if you haven't paid off your full ending statement balance on the due date that appears on your credit card statement. Please note that there is no grace period to avoid finance charges, the full ending statement balance must be paid on or before the due date.
