Question

Does the secured visa show on the credit report as "secured"?

I have heard that banks will distinguish a secured credit card and unsecured on the credit report therefore may diminish the impact of having a credit card for credit improvement. For instance I read that US bank would label the entry as "secured" credit card so it may not hold as much weight in improving your credit

At this time we do not offer monthly reminders for payments due. You can set up a balance notification which will alert you when your balance increases or decreases by a specified amount. You may request Notifications be set up while logged into PC Branch. Once logged into PC Branch, you will want to choose the Notifications link appearing in the gray menu bar below the green menu bar going across the top. You may choose between setting up either a Balance Less Than Notification or a Balance Greater Than Notification. The Balance Notification will be sent the morning after your balance meets the criteria selected for triggering the notice, usually around 4am via email.

Most cards are mailed through standard First Class mail, and so cannot be tracked. However, by your request, DCU can send a card through a registered service such as Federal Express. When this is done, you will be provided a tracking number to monitor the card. There is a charge for this service. For details, please contact our Information Center at 800.328.8797 or at dcu@dcu.org

Yes, your DCU Visa and Check Card will work wherever VISA is accepted. However, we sometimes place blocks on particular merchants or locations where we learn fraud is prevalent. We always work closely with VISA to monitor current fraud patterns and add or remove blocks as these patterns change.

If you are traveling abroad and plan on using your DCU Visa or Check Card, please contact us to check if a block is in effect for the country you are visiting.

Please see our Schedule of Fees (.pdf format) for specific information regarding currency conversion fees that you may incur while using your DCU Visa or Check Card outside of the United States.
